Janet Ritterman: „Research in an arts university: how, what and why“
In recent years research has become an increasingly significant part of the profile of leading arts universities worldwide. A research-active institution can bring opportunities for members of staff, for students, for the institution as a whole, and for the wider community. In her presentation, Janet Ritterman will offer ideas on ways in which research appropriate to the institution and its setting can be developed, supported and disseminated, and will share material from projects involving differing approaches to research.

Dame Janet Ritterman, former Director of the Royal College of Music in London, was educated at the New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music (now Sydney Conservatorium of Music), the University of Durham, and King's College in London. She held academic positions in England from 1975 when she was Senior Lecturer in Music at the Middlesex Polytechnic. Ritterman became the third Chancellor of Middlesex University in 2013 and was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to music in 2002.
